New Year’s Eve will go with a bang in Manchester

Manchester is invited to bring in 2020 in style with a huge fireworks display at an event on Deansgate on New Year’s Eve – Tuesday 31 December.
The event near the Cathedral will take place in the same spot as the Christmas Lights Switch-on.
Music and entertainment will begin from 10.30pm ahead of the countdown to the New Year and an incredible firework extravaganza as the clock hits 12.
As always, New Year’s Eve is a family-friendly, zero-alcohol event.
Bag searches will be in place on the night.
Cllr Pat Karney, Manchester’s New Year’s spokesperson, said: “Following the glittering success of our Christmas Lights Switch-on event on Deansgate, we can now announce that the New Year’s Eve fireworks event will take place in the same area, near the Cathedral.
“Manchester’s New Year’s event has become a real institution and we expect thousands of people to come down, join the party and welcome 2020 in style.”
